Israel-Palestine

To those of my readers who entertain the notion that the Palestinians are the good guys, and the Zionist Jews are the bad guys, here is a challenge for you.  Google “list of terror attacks by {Palestinians or Muslims} against {Jews or Israelis or Christians or Americans or Europeans} over time” (this is ten searches) and compare the results with “list of terror attacks by {Jews or Israelis} against {Muslims or Palestinians} over time” (four searches).  Or, just four Google searches, “list of terror attacks perpetrated by {Jews or Israelis} over time” and “list of terror attacks perpetrated by {Muslims or Palestinians} over time.”  My use of curly brackets (“{“ and “}”) means choose one before making the search.  If you believe that Google is prejudiced, use another search engine.  

My first thought is: you’re not going to take up this challenge because you know damned well what it will show you, that only a demented committed antisemite could possibly cast Jews or Israelis as the bad guys.  Its corollary thought is: if you have taken the time to do the research, why does staring at objective facts not change your mind?

While you try to come up with an answer, here are my answers.  Jews have been the world’s (no, only the Western world’s) scapegoat for well over two thousand years.   Babylonians, Greeks, Romans all had problems with my people: they conquered us militarily, but we refused to bow down to their authority, religious or political.  Then, of course, Jews were responsible for the killing of Christ, and those Jews’ children and grandchildren (for 100 generations) will pay for that deicide until the end of time.  Many Christians have gotten over that libel, but they still hate Jews.  And the several reasons for that are: 

1. We have always been few in number and we can’t really fight back; in the end fighting back will always result in our defeat, and we have tasted defeat endless times when we did fight back.  But we're still here.
2. Your religions – Christianity and Islam – are religions of the sword: convert or die.  My religion doesn’t want you as converts.  This pisses you off, because WE don’t want YOU in OUR club.
3. After God or Allah, your religions worship a human – Christians worship Jesus and Muslims worship Muhammad – but no Jew worships Abraham or Moses or King David.
4. The killer app: Christians and Muslims worship the one true God, the God of the Jews.  A Jew, Sigmund Freud, gave patricide a name: the Oedipus Complex.
5. How about conservative economist Thomas Sowell’s answer: all that Jews need to do to be left alone is to FAIL!  He is wrong, of course, as Jewish over-achievement – harking back to the first Rothschild banker – goes back less than three-hundred years, whereas murdering defenseless Jewish peasants was sport for Christians on their way to the Holy Land to fight off Muslims in the Crusades (were these Eastern European peasants killers of Christ?).
6. Finally, antisemitism is just a “habit.”  No one can justify it, but that doesn’t stop it.  It goes deeper than American democracy in so many lost souls.
7. “Fine, then answer why so many young geniuses at elite American colleges and universities are pro-Palestine.”  Youth are always blessed (or cursed) with two characteristics: idealism and ignorance.  I have no objection with youthful idealism, but the purpose of college is in large part to repair ignorance with knowledge.  These youthful idealists know nothing about Jewish history going back some 3500 years; nothing about Palestinian history going back less than 60 years; nothing about Muslim-Jewish hostility going back just short of 1500 years; nothing about Jewish contributions to Western civilization, going back – again – 3500 years; nothing about Islamic contributions to Western civilization, which came to an end more than 500 years ago.   If I were a 19-year-old boy-man with a high IQ and my share of youthful idealism, I would be pro-Palestine too.  Why?  Because, in an armed struggle between Israel and Palestine, clearly Palestine is young David and Israel is the giant Goliath, and all idealists favor the underdog.  What then must I learn?  That the conflict is not with Palestine, it is with the Muslim world; that the conflict did not begin yesterday, nor did it begin in 1948, or even in the 1890’s (the birth of modern Zionism); that all but one of the wars between the two sides since 1948 were started by Palestinians; that Palestinians do not want their own state unless it is ALL Palestine and no Israel; that the 1948 war was five Arab nation states against the newly-declared state of Israel and that it was intended to be a war of annihilation; that 150,000 Arabs stayed behind in Israel while the warring states told them to leave, and that they live better lives in Israel than any Arab Muslim in the Middle East.  Why is this not enough to convince anybody of Israel’s right to exist and Israel’s right to fight a war she did not start?  Because so many people are antisemites without knowing it, and Israel’s war in Gaza is enough to get them going without anyone (?) calling them antisemites.
8. There are 1.9 billion Muslims in the world and 15.7 million Jews, a ratio of 120 to 1.  How many famous Muslims –anyplace anytime – can you name?  There are 7.5 million Jews in America and 4.5 million Muslims.  How many Muslim Americans can you name?  Jewish American success lies mostly in entertainment (countless), science, business and politics.  There are four Muslim members of the U.S. House of Representatives; there are ten Jewish senators, 24 Jewish House members, three Jewish governors, one current and seven past Supreme Court justices (Louis Brandeis and the “notorious RBG” among them), and 21 Cabinet members, three current.

How many Muslim friends do you have?  How many Jewish friends have you?  Are you willing to lose their friendship over your righteous anti-Zionism despite the facts?

Why do so many people hate Jews?  See above.

Will this short argument convince anyone that they are wrong?  No.  Will they even read it, once they see what it is about?  No.  Why, then, do I write it?  Because I must.
